Faith Formation

Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me,

and do not stop them;

for it is to such as these that

the kingdom of heaven belongs.”

                                         (Matthew 19: 14)

“The Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (CGS) is an approach to the religious formation of children for ages 3-12. It is rooted in scripture, liturgy and the educational principals of Maria Montessori.  God is already present to children in their deepest being.  With guidance and vocabulary, children become aware of their relationship wth God and give expression to it.

“Adults prepare an environment called an ‘atrium’ which contains simple yet beautiful materials for the child to use.  The Holy Spirit is the true teacher.  The catechist assists in the child’s own discovery.  Catechists participate in Formation classes, create materials for presentation, and humbly listen to God with children.  They observe the responses of the children and incorporate their learnings into shared questions and meditation with the children.”

Hereat Trinity Church, we embrace the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd and have four atria, for children birth to three, 3-6, 6-9, and 9-12/  Each atrium is an environment focused on the meeting of the mystery of child and the mystery of God.  We invite the children to fall in love with Jesus while becoming a part of a faith community.  They independently explore child-sized worship articles, listen to parable and scripture readings about Jesus, study maps and are introduced to the sacraments and to the Bible as they move from one atrium to the next.  For more information, click here (link to www.cgsusa.org.

For Adults

Trinity Church hosts several events each year that are designed to support each person’s faith while educating them in the practices and beliefs of the church.  These events are open to the diocese and to participants from other churches.  Below are the offerings for the fall.
